Concentrated sulfuric acid carbonates or corrodes many organic substances. With some it acts oxidatively on the chemical bonds, with others it produces water:

(H2SO4)     
CxH2yOy              > x C + y H2O

Appropriate protective clothing should always be used when working with concentrated sulfuric acid.
